Girl with Cerebral Palsy Attends Prom
Rose Ellison is a young woman with cerebral palsy. Since she was born, she has been unable to walk and relies heavily on her family for her basic needs. Naturally, this makes day-to-day tasks difficult. Not to mention big events, like attending the senior prom in high school. But Rose hasn't let her cerebral palsy stop her.
Rose did run into a few snags, but with the help of the superintendent of schools and a few other allies Rose made it to the prom.
The first problem Rose ran into was finding a prom dress that would fit. After a considerable amount of shopping, her family found a lovely dress at the MDI YWCA. A local seamstress named Barbara Hepburn donated her talents to make the dress a perfect fit.
When it came time for a date Rose asked William Dunoskovic, a young man who attends her church, if he would be interested. He said yes without a moments hesitation and everything was smooth sailing after that.
Rose is an exceptional young lady who plans on attending college in the future. Due to her condition, she will need a full-time aide to accompany her or she will have to conduct her studies at home through online courses. Either way, Rose has proven she is not going to let her cerebral palsy stop her from enjoying what life has to offer.
