A New Cerebral Palsy Center in Modesto

Oh no! Why does this happen so often? Another young boy with cerebral palsy has had his special bike stolen from him!

17-year-old Kyle has only had his bike for three weeks, and it was specially designed to help with his cerebral palsy. His bike gave him the ability to cruise his neighborhood with his own vehicle.

A local Dr's office organized the fund raiser and it took a year before the bike was actually ready to be shipped.

At around 2:00 on Tuesday, kyle's mom looked out her garage and saw that someone had left a ten-speed behind in place of Kyle's bike.

Police came and took down a statement and everyone is hoping that someone will find Kyle's bike and call the police.

In other cerebral palsy news, UCP of Stanislaus County has a new center in north Modesto. The center has training rooms, offices and recreation areas on a single level. The kitchen is designed so a person in a wheelchair can use the microwave or get water and ice from the fridge.

The center contains adults in their early 20s to their late 60s and about 35% of the residents have cerebral palsy. It's a really great resource for these people, that even helps them find employment. They also have arts and crafts for them to do, as well as discussion groups and exercise sessions. What a great place!
