Cerebral Palsy Girl Defies the Odds...and Yet Another Trike is Stolen!
Phil Neville's daughter Isabella was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and the doctors were sure she would never walk. However, she proved them wrong by taking her first steps at two!Neville is a soccer player from the U.K. who was terribly upset when he learned of his daughter's diagnosis at the age of 18 months. He and his wife were told about the problems that they might encounter, from eyesight to hearing loss and problems with mobility.
The doctor's actually gave young Isabella a 50% chance of ever walking.
Her parents were dedicated though, and wanted to do everything they could to give her a chance at normal life. They had a rail fitted to their home and Isabella was given a special brace and leg splints which she wore 24 hours a day. Eventually, she became used to the splints and began to take her first step.
Her mother says, "We are determined that Isabella never feel sorry for herself because she has a disability...we know she still has a lot of difficulties to face in the future."
We love hearing stories of parents who help their children through the battles they face with cerebral palsy. It's truly heart-warming!
Now for something a little less heart warming in cerebral palsy news:
Yet another special tricycle has been stolen! What in the world is going on here? Are there some sort of cerebral palsy bandits running around stealing tricycles?
This time the victim was a 14-year-old girl who suffers from CP.
I hope this string of bike-thievery is soon over!
