The TIME to ACT
is NOW.

For example, according to the national statistics of Yemen, around one million children in that country suffer from one or more forms of cerebral palsy. This number is ever-increasing and it reflects the need for education. The Yemeni people need to learn how to protect their children from suffering their whole life.
In this country, there are many families who feel shame for having cerebral palsy sons and daughters and try to hide them from the public eyes. One child's mother told reporters that some people had always blamed her for her disabled son, instead of trying to help.
Another mother takes a completely different approach. She says that her daughter is her only concern and she devotes all of her time to taking care of her.
"That is her destiny and we are trying our best to give her the best cure. We notice some progress after we start physiotherapy in Al Amal Center but it is very slow and time consuming," Omnia's mother says.
Recently, Yemen has opened several centers for physiotherapy who are designed to treat children and some clients for free. The government also has a Handicapped Rehabilitation Fund that was established in 2002, to serve nearly four hundred thousand people. This is an encouraging sign.
Even though only 26 percent of the total numbers of Yemeni handicapped are getting quality services, the social norms that keep them imprisoned are loosening up. This is good news!
