Cerebral Palsy News: Charity and Living A Dream
Four pupils at the Chatelherault Primary in the U.K. have been nominated by their teacher, Veronic Walker, for their hard work in raising funds for charity. The pupils were studying a charities topic about disabilities following a presentation by Martin McArthur. Martin represents the Bobath charity, which helps children who have cerebral palsy.
Dr. Karel and Mrs. Berta Bobath pioneered and developed the support of children with cerebral palsy all the way back in the 1940s. Today, their work is widely accepted as one of the leading ways of treating cerebral palsy.
The children managed to raise over 109 pounds by hosting yard sales and completing chores.
In other cerebral palsy news, a man is living his dream of walking every course in the PGA Tour this year.
D.J. Gregory has cerebral palsy and has always wanted to walk the courses of the PGA Tour. A native of Savannah, Georgia, Gregory has degrees in sports management from Springfield College.
When asked how many times he's fallen while walking the courses, D.J. says "That's my favorite stat in the blog: number of falls. We're up to 20 falls for the year. My goal is to have less than one fall per week this year, so I have a little bit of a cushion."
Southwest Airlines sponsors the event and gives Gregory 2 round trip tickets for every trip. Here's a link to his blog.
