Different Types of Cerebral Palsy
Like most medical conditions, cerebral palsy comes in different types. Each different type of cerebral palsy has its own unique symptoms, the many people who suffer this condition have more than one type of the disorder to deal with. Cerebral palsy is most notable for its effects on the sufferer’s muscles, but it also has effects that are much more wide-ranging, in the case of certain types of the disorder.
Ataxic cerebral palsy is a disorder that is notable for what are called intention tremors. If you want an idea of what it's like to suffer with this condition imagine that, every time you try to do anything that require fine motor skills, your muscles the rebel on you and begin trembling. If you went to pick up a pen off of the table, for example, you would find that your muscles would begin trembling the closer you drew to the pen and the more you tried to direct them. Dyskinetic cerebral palsy is another form of the disorder that, as the name implies, also causes problems with movement. In the case of this disorder, the sufferer oftentimes has very uneven muscle tone across their entire body and may have problems with drooling, controlling facial expressions and speech. Many of the sufferers of dyskinetic cerebral palsy are fully developed mentally but have significant problems with their bodies. For this condition oftentimes a great deal since throughout their lives and that can be quite expensive.
Any type of cerebral palsy is a debilitating condition. There are differing degrees of the condition and some of the sufferers have relatively mild symptoms.
