Disabled Comedian Launches National Tour with A Shockingly Unique Approach

Comedian Lonnie Bruhn, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth, is using his opportunity behind the spotlight to try and help raise money for the UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY FOUNDATION, or (UCP). Bruhn and one other able bodied Northwest headlining comedian will be embarking on a nationwide trek entitled, The Cripple xXx Comedy Tour. Joining him will be long time friend and business partner, Joe Fontenot

It was only after a promising run in the Northwest in 2006-2007 both Bruhn and Fontenot realized they could help UCP on a national level. "The original concept behind our tour was to prove our brand of off color humor still had a rightful place in the industry." says Lonnie. "It wasn't until later we realized, we could do something that has never been done before. We could put together a fundraising tour which doesn't have the same boring approach associated with these types of events. Instead, it would promote both our style of humor while raising money and awareness for a good cause." He added.

Lonnie, who is not an official spokesman for UCP says, "The most important thing is bringing more attention to the disability, and what better way to do this then by grabbing hipper audiences with open minds.

"Lonnie's take on the disabled might offend some," Joe Fontenot explained, "but I believe his humor comes from truth and sometimes the truth hides in dark places. It should be mentioned, our show isn't all about disabilities. In fact, not a lot is said on the subject. We find humor in a large range of topics, discussing many things most people consider unmentionable. It is an adult show with explicit content, so we're not suitable for all audiences. With that said, as long as we are pushing the envelope on what some might consider an obscenity, we will ask people to pour money into that same envelope for UCP."

As one of the largest health charities in America, the UCP mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities through an affiliate network. For more information please visit their website or contact your local UCP chapter.

The Cripple xXx Comedy Tour is a national tour with comedians Lonnie Bruhn and Joe Fontenot. With 25 years of experience between the two of them, their mission is to distribute their brand of humor in hopes to raise awareness for United Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
