Hippotherapy for Cerebral Palsy
Hippotherapy has proven to be a great resource for children with cerebral palsy...but what is it? The name for hippotherapy comes from the Greek word for horse, "hippos". Physical therapists claim that hippotherapy is an effective form of therapy for a variety of reasons.1. patients will try to sit up better on the back of a horse
2. horseriding will help the patient to maintain his or her balance
3. horseriding strengthens muscles.
4. interaction with horses has proven to have a positive effect on mood
Children with cerebral palsy benefit from a wide variety of forms of therapy. Hippotherapy is a great way for your child to get exercise and experience the great outdoors at the same time.
