New Home for CP Family and A UCP Golf Event

A Jefferson County family now has a place to call home thanks to Habitat for Humanity. This is the 11th house Habitat for Humanity has finished in the Watertown-Thousand Islands area.

One of the family members, Chris, is in a wheelchair as the result of cerebral palsy. His house is completely handicapped accessible now and exactly what he needs to keep working on his rehabilitation efforts.

Habitat for Humanity is also finishing up a house right next door to Chris', and it has two more slots where it will build homes in the same neighborhood.

In other cerebral palsy news, United Cerebral Palsy has held a golf outing for children between the ages of 10-17 at the Links of Carillon in Plainfield, Chicago. There were over 40 volunteers, parents, UCP staff and board members present to make the event a great success.

Sam Mancuso, president and CEO or UCP, said, "Kids Tee it Up not only raised $3,000 for our day school program, but just as importantly helped raise our young participants awareness of the special needs of children with developmental disabilities. We are anticipating nearly 100 young golfers at next year's event."
