Nine-Year-Old Cerebral Palsy Victim Awarded Payment For Damages
A nine-year-old U.K. boy who was born with acute brain-damage after a traumatic delivery has been awarded a large compensation by the High Court.Thomas Young's mother suffered a placental abruption as a result of poor hospital management at the Salisbury District Hospital. After being transported to the hospital by ambulance, Ms. Young was left in a cubicle for 17 minutes despite the emergency of her condition. Doctors performed an emergency caesarean before Ms. Young experienced yet another delay.
A compensation package agreed between the Hospital Trust and Thomas Young's family will provide security for Thomas' future.
The damages paid were said to cover the cost of transportation, care, technological support, travel and holidays, therapy, loss of earnings, psychological and educational support and more.
