Ruby's Bequest - A New Way to Share and Care
This isn't completely on the topic of cerebral palsy information, but it came across my radar via press release.United Cerebral Palsy has partnered with the Institute for the Future, and are piloting a revolutionary new project known as Ruby's Bequest.
Ruby's Bequest is a user-created virtual world with a fictional basis. Think something like Second Life, where users create names, avatars, experiences, lives - all in a virtual community.
Yet the goal of Ruby's Bequest is not only to create a virtual community, but to gather stories, experiences, and lives to address the growing issues, concerns, and needs in health care and the "caring ecosystem." Simply put, it's a huge media forum for conversation about health care policy. The platform is open to the public, and users are asked to create a profile, then can upload photos, video, music, write content, converse with one another, and take part in the policy debates regarding health care.
We find the whole thing a little strange - but strangely compelling. Go check it out, let us know what you think. We'll be adding our own stories soon!
