Tricycle Returned to Young Girl With Cerebral Palsy

Recently, we blogged about a sad case of a young girl with cerebral palsy who had lost her special adaptive bike. We've now learned that she has gotten it back.

"Thank God it is back," says 13-year-old Allison Babiarz.

A Crystal Lake police officer returned the bike to the Babiarz garage on Monday afternoon after the theft received a ton of news media attention. Apparently, the bike has been in police custody since last month, when it was reported as found property near the Babiarz family home.

"I'm just glad we got it back," said Kim Babiarz, Allison's mother.

The bike is actually a modified tricycle, designed by Versa Trike. It is built low to the ground with a high back that is custom designed for Allison.

Allison's mother said that she cried all night after she learned the bike had been stolen, but on Monday she was ready to go searching for it.

The bike was found splattered with mud with its chain off and still has a flat front tire, but the good news is that it's back in the hands of the person it belongs to.
