Tricycles Help Pediatric Patients Build Muscle Strength

Cerebral palsy patients at an Indianapolis rehab center are receiving a new form of therapy utilizing tricycles.

Five-year-old Amber Kegler is one such patient, who recently had surgery to lengthen the tendons of her hamstrings and ankles. Although walking is a difficult task, riding a tricycle has proved quite beneficial. The tricycle she has been using was donated by North Carolina children's charity Ambucs.

The trikes are modified with special equipment like handlebar straps and special pedals to prevent kids from falling and to help them receive a full-body workout.

As time passes, researchers are coming up with new and creative ways to provide therapy for cerebral palsy children.

Did you know that cerebral palsy can be caused by medical error? The Rasansky Law Firm has won millions of dollars for children who have cerebral palsy due to a medical professional's mistakes. These settlements are crucial in providing care and therapy throughout the child's lifetime. If you suspect that your child's cerebral palsy may be the result of medical malpractice or negligence, contact a cerebral palsy attorney by calling 1 800 ATTORNEY today.

That's really great news! When I was growing up as a kid one of my best friend's siblings had cerebral palsy. She had a similar operation and was having a lot of trouble fighting through the weakness and trying to muster up the strength within her body to accomplish day-to-day tasks. It was a really tough thing to witness, but as time got on it got better. It's good to know researchers are finding ways to shorten such long and challenging roads!
