Woman with Cerebral Palsy Defies the Odds

When Julie McElroy was born with cerebral palsy, her parents were told that she might not ever walk or enjoy a normal life. However, the now 22-year-old Scots student has spent her entire adult life disproving the fears of her parents and doctors.

Despite having cerebral palsy, McElroy has scaled mountains, hiked through jungles and sailed ships across the ocean. In fact, last year she completed a month-long hike through the Amazon for a BBC series called Beyond Boundaries.

McElroy surpassed everyone's expectations as a toddler when she learned to walk and then to ride a bike. As a youth, she got a taste for the outdoors when her dad took her on a hike in the mountains. Now she is completing even greater adventures. She has even been considering a trek up to the summit of Mount Everest.

Isn't it amazing what people can accomplish sometimes despite their cerebral palsy? Julie McElroy is truly an inspiration to all of us.

Unfortunately, not all people with cerebral palsy are able to reach the accomplishments that Julie McElroy has. Sometimes even simple tasks like walking and speaking may be impossible.

In cases where cerebral palsy is the result of medical malpractice, it is important that families find a cerebral palsy attorney who has experience in this field. If you believe that your child's cerebral palsy may be the result of medical malpractice or negligence, contact a cerebral palsy attorney at 1 800 ATTORNEY today.
