Young Man With Cerebral Palsy is Heading to Harvard
Kevin Mintz has cerebral palsy. This condition has left him with limited use of his arms and legs, and has left him in a wheelchair for his entire life. It took Kevin almost 10 years of therapy to be able to speak and be understood. But Kevin never let his handicap get him down. He did excellent in school and became an advocate for students with disabilities. His graduation from high school became his latest milestone in a string of success.
"It was very rough at times, but when I was going through all of the traumatic stuff, I didn't feel like I was doing anything heroic or profound," Kevin said before his presentation. "It just felt like something I needed to do for myself, to be considered normal. Until recently, I realized that normal is in the eye of the beholder."
Originally, Kevin needed quite a bit of help to get situated in school. He needed lots of help maneuvering around the building, handling his books and writing assignments.
Fast forward to today, where the young man with cerebral palsy will soon be going to Harvard! Simply amazing!
