Young Man With Cerebral Palsy Makes Wrestling Team
I came across this story about a truly inspirational young man with cerebral palsy today. His name is Eddie Sanchez and he is living his dream of wrestling in high school.Eddie was born five-and-a-half months premature. When he still wasn't walking by 2-years-old, his mother knew something was wrong. Doctors finally diagnosed him with cerebral palsy.
Eddie would end up requiring a wheelchair to get around. He would never really be able to walk.
However, despite his condition, Eddie was a very active young man. He liked to play basketball with his friends. And by the time he was a junior in high school, Eddie decided he would try out for the school wrestling team.
Practice was hard and grueling, especially when the other wrestlers were unsure of how to take Eddie. But he stuck it out, showing up to every practice, working one-on-one with his coach and doing all of the drills he could. In the end, Eddie made the varsity wrestling team.
Eddie's story is similar to others I've read about young people with cerebral palsy. Many of these children have a spark that drives them, pushing them toward their goals despite their conditions.
It is worth noting that some cases of cerebral palsy can be the result of medical error. Medical malpractice or negligence is known to be one of the causes of cerebral palsy. If you suspect medical error has resulted in your child's cerebral palsy, contact a cerebral palsy attorney right away.
